What a sign of the times that a swimming pool, a community facility, should be replaced by Aldi and a car park. This is a beautiful site in a conservation area. There are plenty of local shops in the rank along Crow Lane. Perhaps this area could have been targeted for improvement instead of taking more of our valuable green sites. City planners need to go back to university and study the history of planning i.e. to improve and develop.

I grew up in Henbury and have always greatly valued the green and open spaces in the area.

Bristol City Council should hang their heads in shame

At a recent meeting of the officers of the Society it was agreed that the issue of HENBURY TANKERS should be one of the priority issues taken to Henbury & Brentry Community Council when HCS applies for affiliation in April

Notification received 3/9/2009 from Heather Barham, BCC Area Green Space Plan Project Officer

CROW LANE CONSULTATION EVENT

12th SEPTEMBER 10am-4pm

POSTPONED

The consultation on Crow Lane Open Space Enhancement Project has been postponed.

The reason for the delay is that some of the proposals to improve this site are under review by the City Council. No firm decisions can be made on the future of the Masterplan until further notice.

We remain committed to the improvement of parks and green spaces across the city and future public consultation on the Parks and Green Space Strategy will offer residents the chance to talk about this space and others in the local neighbourhood

If you would like to discuss the project please contact Bristol Parks on (0117) 9222369 or heather.barham@bristol.gov.uk

I think I understood Heather Barham to report at the last Green Spaces meeting on 30th July that the 'investment opportunity' meant selling some of the land in the NW corner for building.
This is part of the Henbury Conservation Area and would be totally inappropriate.

I've now added the sums raised from the Fun Day activities as analysed by Chris. And what a splendid total has been raised.
Chris will note that I have excluded the £10 stall fees received on the day because I consider these together with the £65 received previously should go towards the cost of the day whereas the totals above will go to the Old Peoples organistion / cause that we select.

Hi Everyone
As Tim says, the Fun Day was a great success, despite a couple of booked attractions not being able to turn up - it was only us that missed them!

I'd really like to thank everybody who helped in any way. I would like to list everyone but the list would be too long! However, I have to say special thanks to a few. First and foremost to Pat Lee and Sue Potter because without them I couldn't have organised the Fun Day at all.
Thanks also to Cheryl and Nick for their imput and to PCSO Mike Bettel for stepping in so adequately at short notice as our walkabout clown (have to say he looked as though he was enjoying it!). A really big Thank You to our injured PCSO Abby Eliott-Taylor who bravely came along (on her crutches) to demonstrate her newly found skills at balloon sculpture. Thanks to Sam Parker, Pearl and Maureen, and Rose and Jean and all the Search Group members who helped.

I hope everyone who came enjoyed themselves - I know I did! It was a lot of work but I think it was well worth it on the day. I'm looking forward now to getting down to organising the Christmas Cracker !!!
